Beyond the masterfully designed 18 hole golf course, here you’ll enjoy the 200 acres of lovely tropical scenery with mature landscaping, lakes, fountains, wildlife viewing, bird watching, two community swimming pools, a gym, and a resort style club house. All the homes in this gated community are designed in the charming Key West “conch cottage” architecture, displaying tin roofs, pastel siding, white picket fences, and flowering arbors, plus it provides the added benefit of a 24 hour security attendant.
Interior Layout: Enter the Villa on the Green vacation rental, and take-in the mid-century decor of bright white tropical wicker and bamboo displayed in the sky-blue great-room. Pastel floral patterns and wispy white café curtains, create a timeless island style that is a refreshing contrast to the abundance of exotic ‘Tommy Bahama’ rattan décor found in the tropics today. The straight-forward layout of the great-room makes it easy for relaxing and entertaining.
Great Room: Inside the door to the left, a fully equipped U-shaped galley kitchen with breakfast bar provides the ideal set up for chatting with friends and family while preparing meals and having morning coffee and afternoon cocktails. A washer / dryer is conveniently hidden in the double door laundry closet, near the breakfast bar.
Towards the middle of the great-room, the entertainment grouping is set with a sofa, love seat, coffee table and 42 inch flat-screen cable TV. Double sets of sash windows on two walls bring in the sunlight, while oversized sliding glass doors span the width of the back wall opening to an expansive covered wooden deck. When the doors are opened up, you can maximize the indoor-outdoor island lifestyle that Key West is famous for.
Outdoor Covered Deck: Staged as an outdoor dining / living room, the deck provides a dining table and chairs, BBQ grill, plus a colorful full sized sofa for relaxing and enjoying the garden view. The deck ceiling is painted ‘haint’ blue, a southern and Caribbean tradition, which lore proclaimed it warded off evil spirits. Today it’s a fun paint detail that is loved by Key Westers.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms: Back inside, behind the wall where the TV console is placed, a staircase leads to the second floor where we find the 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Each bedroom has peaked ceilings, giving them a feeling of added space, and each is carpeted with sand colored Berber carpet.
Immediately at the top of the stairs, and to the right is bedroom one. In contrast to the soft pastel colors on the 1st floor, this bedroom is done up in a bold delicious mango color reminiscent of a favorite blended tropical drink. Appointed with a honey tone wicker headboard, contrasting pattern fabrics and art work, the room has an unmistakable Caribbean vibe.
Straight ahead from the top of the stairs, is bedroom two, which provides 2 twin beds. Also distinctively Caribbean, this bedroom is painted in a bright key lime color and decorated with playful tropical artwork and hand painted furniture. The twin beds can be pushed together and made up as a king bed, upon request.
The shared bathroom for bedrooms one and two, is steps away from each bedroom, easily accessed off the hallway that connects the rooms. Decorated with traditional white tiles, single sink vanity, and light lavender paint, this full bathroom provides a bathtub with in-tub shower.
Back to the top of the stairs as our reference point, the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, is to the left, and encompasses the entire left side of the upstairs. A king size bed is set with a beautiful view of the golf course. Sliding glass doors that lead to a private covered porch, provide an added bonus for the master bedroom and an enviable down-look view of the mature tropical landscaping and greens. In keeping with the more traditional style that we see on the 1st floor, the master bedroom is done in blue and white. The en-suite bathroom, made pretty in pink, provides a shower and vanity sink.
Grounds: A Free form swimming pool with waterfall, and sun deck outlined with palm trees, is just around the corner from Villa on the Green, a quick stroll away. As you settle into the peacefulness of this neighborhood, you’ll discover the relaxing distraction it offers from the bustle of Old Town Key West; a welcome retreat after enjoying the hum of the downtown heartbeat. With the expansive Key West Tropical Forest and Botanical Garden on one side, and the Key Haven inlet on the other, here you’re a 15 minute drive from Old Town Key West.
For bicyclists, a paved section of the Florida Keys Overseas Heritage trail connects to town, and for enthusiasts there cycling courses galore along the way. Two marinas are close by, Hurricane Hole and Sunset Marina, where you can walk the docks, enjoy boat charters, fishing, kayaking, and seafood restaurants. And, if you love the performing arts, the Tennessee Williams Theatre is next door
